Contact lenses with augmented reality

At the request of the Ministry of Defence of the USA, the company has developed a prototype Innovega contact lenses that will simultaneously view their surroundings and what is happening at a distance of several kilometers, on the virtual display. This is achieved using dvufokusnoy optical system. Interestingly, at the end of 2014, Innovega plans to release a product and for the civilian market.

Innovega demonstrated at CES 2012 nanotechnology designed into contact lenses that, when combined with a special set of glasses, allows one to focus close to read a heads-up display projected on the glasses, while seeing far. They can also be used for delivering full-field 3D or for 360 degree gaming experience. In this video, Randall Sprague, CTO of Innovega, explains how this device works and potential applications.
